Program Overview

English studies form a cornerstone of the humanities, developing the ability to read critically, write persuasively and communicate with clarity across academic, professional and creative contexts. The BS English programme provides a comprehensive understanding of English language, literature, linguistics and communication, encouraging critical thinking, literary appreciation and research excellence so that graduates can meet the demands of diverse professional fields.

Scope

Our BS English graduates build expertise across:

• English Literature — classical and contemporary literary traditions, poetry, prose and drama
• Linguistics — the structure, meaning and function of language
• Applied Linguistics & ELT — teaching methodology for learners of English as a second language
• Creative Writing — fiction, poetry and script writing
• Communication Skills — public speaking, academic writing and media communication

Career Tracks

1. Teaching & Academia — teach English language and literature at school, college and university levels, and pursue advanced research and academia.
2. Media & Publishing — work in journalism, content writing, editing and publishing across print and digital media.
3. Corporate & Professional Communication — support organisations through technical writing, corporate communication and language training.

Admission Criteria

Eligibility:

• BA, B.Sc., ADP (English) or equivalent with a minimum 2.0 CGPA
• At least 45% marks in English subjects
• The eligibility criteria for the 4-year BS English program must also be fulfilled

Scheme of Study

BS English (Literature & Linguistics) — Four-Year Course, 8 semesters, 135 total credit hours.
